Wish
you a happy remembrance of the liberation of deprived. Jesus Christ, after resurrection
goes to Galilee, instead of going to any church or place of power. He could
have gone to Jerusalem, which was the most holy place for the Jews. Otherwise
could have gone to the power centres of Rome and conquered the throne. Instead he
chooses Galilee which was a place having the smell of sweat and toil. It's a
place of pain and torture. The resurrected Christ is among the people of
exploited, the toiling labours, and those are grinded tough. It's He chose to
celebrate Maundy Thursday, the great remembrance of liberation from slavery
before being crucified, now goes to Galilee, where the labourers work hard,
where the land is known for the struggles and smelled for the sweat of
downtrodden. Instead of selecting any church of wealth, mountains of cosiness
and corridors of power, He selects the valley of toiling masses. Hence the
remembrance of Maundy Thursday, culminating into the reappearance of resurrected
Christ before the disciples at Galilee.
Yet
we search Him in Corridors of power, mountains of comforts and churches of wealth and not finding; but, fail to search Him in slums and labour camps.

Hence great poet Rabindra Nath Tagore sings:
LEAVE this chanting and singing and telling of beads!
Whom dost thou worship in this
lonely
dark corner of a temple with
doors all shut?
Open thine eyes and see thy God
is not before thee!
He is there where the tiller is
tilling the hard ground
and where the pathmaker is breaking stones.
He is with them in sun and in shower,
and his garment is covered with dust.
Put off thy holy mantle and even like him
come down on the dusty soil!
Deliverance? Where is this
deliverance to be found?
Our master himself has joyfully taken upon him the bonds of creation;
he is bound with us all for ever.
Come out of thy meditations and
leave aside thy flowers and incense!
What harm is there if thy clothes become tattered and stained?
Meet him and stand by him in
toil and in sweat of thy brow.
-----Rabindra Nath Tagore (Gitanjli-Chapter-11)
